1. Knowledge and experience
I am a professional translator of English educated in this field, which has ensured me long-term experience in working with languages:
- high school: an arts class with English, French and Latin
- university: English studies – a translation program with Arabic; Institute of English at the University of Silesia (MA thesis about specialized vocabulary). These English studies are one of the two in Poland to have been awarded a distinction grade by the Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA)
- 2014: PhD in linguistics; Institute of English at the University of Silesia (PhD thesis about specialized vocabulary, defended with distinction).
My scientific achievements also include participation in Polish and international conferences as well as published linguistic articles. The teaching experience I have gained while working with students at my institute additionally enriches my knowledge of using foreign languages.
My full scientific CV is available here [download CV].
As a translator, I specialize in various fields, which include i.a. OHS, construction and infrastructure, environmental protection, medicine and pharmacy, photography as well as contracts, advertisements and other texts for various purposes. My additional, distinctive area of expertise is horse breeding and riding – a result of my long-term passion guaranteeing high translation quality.
2. Diligence and deadlines
I work fast, taking into account the time necessary to handle a given order reliably. I accept deadlines responsibly and observe them. This is facilitated by modern, leading CAT tools – Trados and Wordfast PRO, which also help preserve coherence throughout orders placed by one customer.
However, programs are not the cure for all evil – we all know funny examples of incorrect machine translations, don’t we? The human has remained the most important part of the whole translation process. You can rest assured that every order will be treated individually and diligently. The lack of agents guarantees due care for each text – this attitude won’t be lost somewhere along a complicated supply chain or within the busy office life.
Leading CAT tools plus individual service? This is ELI-Lang!
3. Working with passion
My profession is not only a job combined with a range of qualifications: it is also a passion lasting for many years. The childhood love of reading and writing my own stories transformed into thorough linguistic education which has not only taught me the translation craft, but also ensured contact with several foreign languages: English, German, French, Latin and Arabic.
ELI-Lang delivers more than translations: I also write linguistic articles and compile a dictionary in installments for the Polish equestrian magazine Konie i Rumaki. Both of my university dissertations (the MA thesis and the PhD thesis) were devoted to specialized vocabulary: I examined equestrian terminology, which had been poorly described before and I decided that it deserved serious linguistic research. You can be certain that your order will be handled with the same interest and professionalism.
